REGISTRATION DETAILS

FULL REGISTRATION

An applicant is entitled to full registration with the DCTT if they are:

      • A holder of a first diploma or degree from a recognized University, College or Institution as referred to in The Schedule of The Dental Act 
      • A Graduate of The University of The West Indies Faculty of Medical Sciences Dental School who has successfully completed a one-year vocational training
      • Presents a certificate of good character
      • Presents a letter of good standing
      • Pay the applicable registration fee
    1. A holder of a diploma from a recognized University, College or Institution as referred to in The Schedule of The Dental Act

      Candidate must provide the following documentation:

      • A completed Full Registration (DR 1) form Full Registration Form - DR.1.pdf
      • A notarized copy of a diploma/degree from the recognized University, College or Institution as referred to in the Schedule of the Dental Act  Act1998_31 - Schedule List of University's-6-10.pdf
      • Notarized copies of two legal forms of Identification
      • A notorized copy of a certificate of good character
      • A letter of good standing from their regulatory body sent directly to the Dental Board of Trinidad and Tobago, or a notarized copy of such letter
      • Registration fees of Six Hundred TTD$600.00 payable to the Dental Board of Trinidad and Tobago.
       
    2. A Graduate of The University of The West Indies Faculty of Medical Sciences Dental School who has successfully completed a one-year vocational training

      Candidate must provide the following documentation:

      • A completed DR1 form Full Registration Form - DR.1.pdf
      • Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from The University of the West Indies
      • Vocational Training Certificate from the University of the West Indies
      • Two forms of Identification
      • Registration fees of TTD$600 payable to the Dental Board of Trinidad and Tobago
      Applicants may be considered unsuitable for full registration if they do not meet the requirements listed above. In such cases, the applicant will be required to sit our Dental Board Examinations and registration will be applicable upon successful completion of the exam.

  1. Dental Board Examinations

    You must be temporarily registered to sit the exam. You are required to provide:

    • Completed TR1 Form Temporary Registration Form - TR.1.pdf
    • Notarized copies of two forms of Identification
    • A notarized copy the Dental Degree from your University
    • Five Hundred Dollars (TTD$500) for Temporary Registration payable to the Dental Board of Trinidad and Tobago

    A fee of Ten Thousand dollars (TTD$10,000) is payable by the applicant to the Dental Board of Trinidad and Tobago before the applicant sits the examination. This payment can be made via cheque, linx, credit card or a direct deposit can be made into our bank account.

    Exams are held in April and November of each year. Deadlines for payment for exams are as follows;

    • April sitting - On or before February 28th
    • November sitting - On or before September 30th
     

    The form of the examination may include any or all of the following:

    1. a written paper;
    2. clinical and oral examinations;

    Please note that you must allow time prior to exams to complete registration with the DCTT and the University of the West Indies, School of Dentistry.

    TEMPORARY REGISTRATION

    An applicant can be considered for Temporary registration if they meet one of the following criteria:

    • The candidate has intention to write the Dental Board Examinations within a 6-month period
    • An intern ready to commence Vocational Training at the University of the West Indies
    • A dentist contracted under the Ministry of Health
    • A Dental Auxiliary (Nurse, Therapist or Hygienist)

    1. To write the Dental Board Examinations

      You are required to provide:

      • Completed TR1 Form Temporary Registration Form - TR.1.pdf
      • Notarized copies of two forms of Identification
      • A notarized copy of Dental Degree from your University
      • Five Hundred Dollars (TTD$500) payable to the Dental Board of Trinidad and Tobago. Registration is valid for 6 months.
    2. As an intern to commence Vocational Training at the University of the West Indies

      You are required to provide:

       
      • Completed TR1 Form Temporary Registration Form - TR.1.pdf
      • A copy of two forms of Identification
      • A copy of your Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree
      • Five Hundred Dollars(TTD$500) payable to the Dental Board of Trinidad and Tobago. Valid for six months.
    3. As a dentist contracted under the Ministry of Health

      Direct liaison with the Ministry of Health is required in this instance.

      You are required to provide:

      • A completed Temporary Registration Form Temporary Registration Form - TR.1.pdf
      • A copy of your Doctor of Dental Surgery certificate
      • A copy of 2 Forms of I.D
      • Contractual Agreement from the Ministry of Health
      • Registration fees $500.00 payable to the Dental Board of Trinidad and Tobago. Valid for 6 months
    4. As a Dental Auxiliary Nurse, Therapist or Hygienist

      At present the Council only has rolls open for Dental Nurses and Dental Assistants. We are hoping to open the other roles in the near future. However dental hygienist and therapists can be temporarily registered as a dental nurse.

      You are required to provide:

      • A completed Temporary Registration Form as a dental nurse Temp. Reg. Forms - Dental Nurses.pdf
      • 2 Forms of I.D
      • Registration fees $10.00 payable to the Dental Board of Trinidad and Tobago. Valid for 6 months

Registration as a Dental Auxiliary

The professionals that make up the dental auxiliaries are dental assistants, dental hygienists, dental nurses or, dental technicians.
