Dental Council of Trinidad and Tobago

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Fees paid under the Dental Profession Act and Dental Regulations may cover the cost of:

  • First Registration
  • Annual Fee for Retention in the Register
  • Application for Duplicate Certificate of Registration
  • Application for Duplicate Practice Certificate
  • Temporary Registration
  • Examinations conducted by the Board of Examiners

Mostly, these fees are non-refundable. For example, the application fee for temporary registration will not be refunded because, whether the application was approved or denied, an assessment would have been completed.

Application for refund of a payment

Persons may be entitled to dispute a transaction and receive a refund in limited circumstances such as:

  • where duplicate processing of the transaction occurred (double payment)
  • where there was an overpayment
  • where, after having paid, the candidate elects not to participate in the examinations
  • suspected fraud.

If you believe you are entitled to a refund, you will need to submit an application, giving a detailed explanation of your reasons and the circumstances. All requests for refunds must be accompanied by a receipt or some other valid acknowledgment of payment.

The criteria for refunds are as follows:

    Overpayments
  1. Where it is established that an overpayment was made, a refund of the overpayment will be issued by cheque, usually within 10 business days.
  2. Double payment
  3. Where it is established that there was a double payment for the same service, a refund of the excess payment will be issued by cheque, usually within 10 business days.
  4. Temporary Registration
  5. Temporary registration fees are non-refundable.
  6. Examination Fees
  7. Where examinations are canceled by the Dental Board, candidates who have paid examination fees have the option of applying the payment towards the next examination sitting or asking for a refund.
  8. Cancellations made 4 weeks prior to the examination date will receive a full refund.
  9. Where a candidate decides not to participate in the examinations and has given at least 2 weeks notice of the cancellation, a partial refund will be considered. The Board has the only right to be flexible here.
  10. No refund will be issued where notification of cancellation is given within 14 days of the examination.

You will not receive a refund if we learn that you have misrepresented yourself or the facts (given false information or have left out important details).
